Did you catch the 3rd headfake? He said the lecture wasn't for us, but for his kids.

Wrong. The lecture demonstrably was about his primary values -- children and students -- and the virtues necessary to sustain and nurture them: truth, love, integrity, communication, honesty, independence, freedom, productivity, respect (of self and others), gratitude, humor/fun, et. al.

It's "everyday heroes" like Randy Pausch, despite being among that shrinking minority, who continually cut-through convoluted confusion with clarity enough to -- at minimum -- balance "the growing masses" whom daily define dignity downward with deviancy.

Were his lecture to positively influence even a small fraction of parents and mentors ... though unlikely, it's inspirational (and fun!) to think that it could possibly positively impact -- and perhaps even revolutionize -- the rapid decline of the irrational, primitivistic, morally and economically bankrupt, infantilized, and emasculated remains of Western Civilization (formerly valuers of reason and justice, technology, self-reliance and accountability, self-respect and independence, and individual sovereignty/liberty).

Nope, this isn't about cloud computing gems, nor gems for web programming applications such as Rails or Grails and not even Java....

Thanks for sharing this, Tony!

That's what I love about the web. Inspirational men and their stories get a fair share of the headlines as compared with newspapers which are mostly sensationalist 'downers'.

Felt every word he said and I can say that he indeed had a life well spent.

Best.

Yeah,
this man was truly very inspirtational through out of what he went to do make life a better meaning for him and his family. He makes his quotes not to make you go ohh yeah thats really great and yea yeah like who gives a fucking hell of it. Noo! He puts them there to make meanings of importance because like i learned from Albus Dumbledore for years since ive seen the movie and read the 1st book. His telling Harry about the mirror. "It does not to dwell on dreams and forget to live". Meaning you shouldnt worry about an awesome vision make the most of what u have now and continue to grow and look beyond of what greatness you can make of yourself.
