The Maltese looks a lot like a Samoyed in miniature, with the added benefit that it does not shed, is non-allergenic, and is not particularly barky. It also housebroke and trained more quickly than our Shih Tzus. All are non-allergenic, no-shedding, and very affectionate and comical dogs in the 5-10 pound range. Of course, every dog and dog owner are different, but our Border Terrier is perfect for a 900 square foot condo. Enough energy to take a hike and romp in the mud, but happy to be a lapdog and spend the day in the crate. Yep, a Boston Terrier would be terrific but too costly to acquire in this part of the world. Just got a toy poodle 3 days ago and actually think he's turning out to be the best one we've ever had. Great sub for a baby brother or sis for my kid!
